Job Description

Summary

This job is for a police officer at a Navy base in Pensacola, Florida, where you'll handle daily law enforcement tasks like responding to emergencies, investigating incidents, and enforcing rules to keep the installation safe.

It's ideal for someone with prior experience in security or policing who wants a stable federal role with training provided.

Expect to work shifts and commit to a multi-year service agreement after academy training.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 (for GS-06 level), including investigating law violations, conducting checkpoints, inspecting belongings, and responding to emergencies while following laws
  • For entry-level GS-05, one year of experience equivalent to GS-04, such as issuing citations, preparing reports, and protecting property
  • Completion of Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program as a condition of employment
  • Agreement to 36 months of continued service after FLETC training, with potential reimbursement obligation if not fulfilled
  • Ability to interpret and enforce state/federal laws, Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), DoD/Navy regulations, and installation rules
  • Proficiency in operating electronic communications equipment, radar, breathalyzer, and preparing detailed reports/citations
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to pass background checks, physical fitness standards, and obtain required security clearances

For the GS-06 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Investigating unusual situations pertaining to violations of the law; 2) Conducting checkpoints/roadblocks at various locations to reduce criminal activity; 3) Inspecting packages/personal belongings when admitting personnel into controlled areas; and 4) Responding to emergency calls for service while adhering to state and federal laws.

For the GS-05 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Issuing citations for violations of the law; 2) Preparing reports and orders for dissemination to other law enforcement officials; and 3) Protecting property, equipment, data, or materials.

Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment.

Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy.

Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 month of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309.

Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.

Major Duties:

  • You will respond to and investigate complaints while interpreting and enforcing state and federal laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), DoD and Navy regulations, and installation directives, rules and regulations.
  • You will respond to alarms, emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service while on duty.
  • You will operate electronic tactical police communications equipment, including mobile data terminals to receive dispatches, respond to calls and complete official reports.
  • You will perform traffic law enforcement using specialized equipment such as radar, breathalyzer.
  • You will prepare detailed reports, forms, and citations concerning all incidents and action taken.
  • You will ensure individuals requesting access to the installation have proper identification.
  • You will conduct investigative stops, questions, detains, and takes appropriate action to resolve incidents as required.
