Job Description

Summary

This job involves maintaining, repairing, and installing plumbing and heating systems in a state prison facility, while also supervising inmate work crews and ensuring the security of tools and equipment.

This position provides for the operation, maintenance, repair, installation, and replacement of the plumbing and heating systems of all facilities within area of responsibility. Responsible for the supervision and security of prisoners on a work crew and the security of tools and equipment. Position may require travel within the region, which could include overnight stays.

Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school. 

Experience
Five years of experience in the plumbing trade, including one year equivalent to a Plumber E9.

Qualifications

Completion of a vocational training program in plumbing that includes commercial or industrial level instruction may be substituted for two years of experience assisting skilled trades people.

Additional Information

This position requires possession of a journey plumber’s license issued by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth.
