Job Title: Placement Exception Security Guard 3 (SG3)

Location: Centralia (Aspire House)

Closes: 1/22/26

Salary: $4320- $5812 Monthly (The indicated salary does not include a 5% on-site 24/7 facility premium.)


We're looking for a Security Guard 3 (SG3) to join our team at the Centralia (Aspire House) Placement Exception Facility.

Placement Exception Facilities provide short-term living options for foster youth, aged 13 to 18, who require supervision and do not currently have a placement.

The Opportunity:

This position supervises Security Staff and is responsible for overseeing the protection and security of buildings, grounds, residents, staff, and visitors.

Security Staff are responsible for ensuring the overall security of the facility and providing intervention for youth when necessary.

They also ensure appropriate supervision within the facility and may be charged with fire safety protocols.

Security staff do not count towards staffing ratios but are a critical part of maintaining safety and security.

This position will require the use of strong assessment and engagement skills to support youth with complex mental health, developmental, and behavioral needs through a trauma-informed lens.

This position requires the ability to manage crises calmly and demonstrate de-escalation skills.


Some of what you'll do:

  • Oversee the daily activities and performance of Security Staff across all Placement Exception Facilities.
  • Assign and coordinate patrol duties, building inspections, and monitoring tasks to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Train Security Staff on patrol procedures, building and grounds inspections, and enforcement of facility rules and behavioral expectations.
  • Ensure all security staff have training on trauma-informed approaches to youth with complex mental health, developmental, and behavioral needs.
  • Conduct ongoing coaching and skills development focused on crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Ensure the protection and security of facilities, including buildings, grounds, residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with safety protocols and physical safety standards unique to each Placement Exception Facility.
  • Oversee the implementation, monitoring, and regular updating of the Safety Audit Corrective Action Plan for all Placement Exception Facilities.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to crisis situations, guiding staff in managing incidents with youth using Department-approved de-escalation strategies.
  • Support staff in maintaining appropriate supervision and intervention techniques to promote safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with facility leadership and other departments to align security practices with broader care goals for youth.
  • Communicate security updates, incidents, and concerns promptly to the Area Administrator or the Statewide Facilities Administrator.
  • Maintain accurate records of security activities, incidents, and training sessions.
  • Prepare reports related to facility safety audits, corrective actions, and staff performance evaluations.
  • Ensure all Placement Exception Facilities remain compliant with state safety regulations and departmental policies.
  • Identify opportunities for improving security protocols and youth supervision practices, implementing changes as needed.


What we're looking for (Required Qualifications):

Three years of experience as a Security Guard 1.
OR
Two years of experience as a Security Guard 2.
OR
High school graduation or GED and three years of experience in areas of work such as: security guard, correctional officer, store investigation, or police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement work.
OR
Equivalent education and experience totaling three years in areas of work such as: security guard, correctional officer, store investigations, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement work.

AND


  1. The ability to take action to learn and grow.
  2. The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

NOTE: A certificate of completion in a basic law enforcement training program approved by the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission, or a certificate of completion in a police or reserve police academy or military training program, will substitute for one of the three years of required experience.


Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Previously demonstrated work with youth.
  • Previously demonstrated excellent de-escalation skills

This position requires a minimum of at least two years of driving experience and a valid driver’s license.

Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or a foreign equivalent verified by a NACES-approved organization at naces.org.
