Job Description:
The purpose of the position is to provide Facility Management service to the Colorado State Veterans Home on the Fitzsimons Campus, to include planning, operation and maintenance of buildings and grounds, capital improvements, utility management and facility fleet management. This position ensures that all life safety systems are in full compliance; manages preventive and routine maintenance of the building, equipment and grounds, meeting and or exceeding local, state, and federal standards.

Duties included but not limited to:
  • Collaborate with administration to execute the facility’s vision and lead maintenance staff in alignment with the mission and organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans, departmental policies, and day-to-day procedures to optimize facility operations.
  • Oversee quality assurance programs and monitor practices to ensure strict adherence to long-term care regulations, ethics, and safety laws.
  • Manage the departmental budget and utilize data-driven reporting to present operational insights to leadership and regulatory surveyors.
  • Oversee the physical plant, grounds, and equipment using the Maximo system to prioritize work orders and manage routine and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Direct maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry staff by managing work schedules, conducting new employee orientations and staff trainings and providing performance documentation or corrective actions.
  • Serve on the leadership team and quality committees, specifically developing Life Safety Plans of Correction for State Health Department and VA regulatory surveys.
  • Manage the departmental budget, inventory, and State Purchasing Card, including the preparation of monthly spenddown reports and verification of employee timesheets.
  • Determines scope of work necessary for a project.
  • Determine appropriate trades for the project.
  • Determines how to utilize appropriate procurement rules to complete work
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of experience in Long Term Care or Residential Treatment Care Facilities, three (3) of which must have been at the level of a unit supervisor or equivalent.

Substitutions:
  • NONE

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in trades such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or Pipe Fitting
  • Experience with State and Federal Life Safety Regulations

CDHS Selection Process Explanation
Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hrs per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications.
