The Office of Directors Division of Public Health - Seattle & King County is seeking four (4) Short-Term Temporary (STT) Pharmacy Technicians to join our team!

These positions will be under the Office of Directors Division (ODIR) Pharmacy Department.

STT Pharmacy Technicians will assist with backfill needs across Community Health Services CHS and Jail Health Services pharmacies.

The responsibilities include assisting pharmacists by processing prescriptions, maintaining patient profile, filling orders, ordering medications, maintaining pharmaceutical inventory, and providing support services to ensure that the pharmacy program is in compliance with all relevant state and federal rules and regulations.

These positions will operate under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

This is an on-call STT position that allows the applicant to have the flexibility to work whenever they are available.

This position also allows applicants to work in various pharmacy locations and learn different aspects of pharmacy work.

Work Schedule

These are on-call float positions (Short-Term Temp), the work hours will vary between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm depending on the location and shift.

This position requires the candidates to be available at minimum of one (1) shift per month to work at Public Health Pharmacies. The various work schedules dependent on the backfill needs.

Holidays and weekends may be included and may work outside these days/hours to meet operational needs.


Work Location

The work associated with these positions will be performed on site throughout King County. These positions will be based in the Chinook Building located at 401 Fifth Ave. Seattle, WA 98104. Other site locations are:


  • King County Correctional Facility 500 5th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104
  • Maleng Regional Justice Center 620 W James St, Kent, WA 98032
  • Eastgate Public Health Center 14350 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, WA 98007
  • Downtown Public Health Center 2124 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98121


Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Order entries for prescriptions or processing prescriptions.
  • Assist the Pharmacist in dispensing individual prescriptions.
  • Fill orders for drugs and vaccines requested by Seattle/King County Department of Public Health clinics and other health facilities.
  • Process prescriptions and maintain patient profiles in pharmacy software system.
  • Accurately interpret prescriptions including drug name, strength, directions, dosage forms and generic equivalents.
  • Maintain inventory control including purchasing, receiving, and placing in stock all drug and pharmacy supplies.
  • Re-package and label prescribed medications for health clinics.
  • Maintain and monitor records for credits, returns and outdated drugs from health facilities and return outdated merchandise and recalled drugs to manufacturer.
  • Update and maintain effective drug inventories based on use or projected use.
  • Deliver “Keep-On-Person” medications to the patients in-house.
  • Deliver drug orders and re-stock appropriate drug storage locations throughout Jail Health Services.
  • Maintain security measures to properly safeguard drug inventory.
  • Maintain and monitor records for returns and outdated drugs from throughout the facility and return outdated merchandise and recalled drugs to manufacturer.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following (Minimum):

  • Washington State Board of Pharmacy Technician License at time of hire.
  • Healthcare BLS/CPR Certification at time of hire.
  • Must pass DAJD Clearance and Public Health Background Check.
  • Knowledge of drug names, strength, dosage forms, generic equivalents, and storage requirements.
  • Knowledge of the legal requirements of a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy practices and procedures.
  • Basic mathematics calculation skills.
  • Organization skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Skill in working in a team environment.
  • Skill in data entry and personal computers.


The most competitive applicants will have the following experiences and qualifications (Desired):

  • Prior work experience either in clinic or corrections.
  • Prior work experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Prior experience working with an electronic health record system.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician Licensure (PTCB).
  • Other spoken language skills.
