About the Position: This position is located at NMRTU Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA under the Pharmacy Department. Performing a variety of technical support functions in a pharmacy.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes verifying accuracy of pharmaceutical labels, rotating pharmacy stock, and utilizing automated pharmacy systems to enter and retrieve data.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Major Duties:

  • Process medication orders.
  • Perform substantial bulk compounding, including complex products.
  • Prepare, store, and issue sterile and non-sterile drug preparations following established guidelines.
  • Perform technical functions with computer-based systems.
  • Assist Pharmacist in the drug utilization, quality assurance, and improvement activities.
  • Provide guidance or assists less experienced medical personnel.
