Job Description

Summary

This job is for a pharmacy technician at a military hospital in Missouri, where you'll help fill prescriptions, manage medication inventory, and ensure everything follows safety rules while working closely with pharmacists.

About the Position: This position is located at Fort Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes includes filling and dispensing prescriptions, conducting inspections on pharmaceutical inventory, and coordinating with pharmacist to maintain and replenish inventory.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.

Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Coordinate with pharmacist or provider to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
  • Perform final pharmacy check on sterile products, bulk drug orders, and replenishment of emergency medication carts.
  • Participates in collection and review of quality assurance data.
  • Review stock levels to ensure appropriate amount of pharmaceuticals are on hand to include critical care items.
  • Screen orders and prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness and conformity to laws and regulations.
