Summary

This job is for a pharmacy technician at a naval clinic in Fallon, Nevada, where you'll help fill prescriptions, manage medications, and use computer systems to track orders in a military healthcare setting.

About the Position: Naval Air Station Fallon is a remote duty station with 14 tenant commands that provides support to Naval Aviation Warfare Development Center (NAWDC), a major stakeholder in the area of operations (AOR).

Naval Branch Health Clinic (NBHC) Fallon/Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit Fallon (NMRTU) is a tenant command and branch clinic of Naval Health Clinic Lemoore/ Navy Medicine and Readiness Training Command Lemoore.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes filling prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology or a related field of study.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.

Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity of medication prescription to be dispensed.
  • Package and label products and ensure proper handling, storage, and accountability.
  • Assure the safe handling, preparation, storage, and disposal of various pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Enter and maintain medication orders through computer-based system.
  • Review orders for compliance with regulatory processes.
