Summary

This job involves working as a pharmacy technician in a military health clinic, where you'll fill prescriptions, manage medication stock, and help patients understand how to use their drugs safely.

About the Position: This position is located at Naval Branch Health Clinic Memphis, Dir of Clinical Support.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation utilizing DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes verifying accuracy of pharmaceutical labels; utilizing automated pharmacy systems to enter and retrieve data; and rotating pharmacy stock.

OR Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages. Must possess and maintain valid Pharmacy Technician Certification, from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Major Duties:

  • Fills prescriptions according to established protocols.
  • Answers routine questions and conveys necessary information to patients to ensure proper administration and use of medications
  • Processes prescriptions using various automated systems.
  • Receives and reviews prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals.
  • Ensures correct medication is placed in a properly labeled container and dispensed to the correct customer.
  • Provides information to patients on proper use of medications, referring questions requiring professional knowledge and experience to a registered pharmacist.
