Requirements

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will receive, prepare, fill, and document prescriptions.

You will select and prepare prescribed medications for pharmacist review, process medication returns and credits, and performs supervised medication destruction and disposal.

You will also monitor pharmacy stock levels, prepare requisitions for drug purchase, receive and stock medication inventory and pharmacy supplies.

This role requires familiarity with resident prescription histories and a thorough knowledge of brand and generic names to properly fill medications.

In addition, you will re-package medications for pharmacy distribution and maintain the pharmacy area to insure a clean, organized environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime as needed

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience assisting a licensed pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications in a hospital pharmacy; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
