Summary

About the Position: This position is located at Fort Polk, Louisiana.This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized for highly qualified candidates.

Basic Requirement for Pharmacist: Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.

Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

AND Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before.

Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

AND Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

AND Specialized Experience: One year of professional pharmacy experience which includes dispensing medication, preparing pharmaceuticals, OR providing medication counseling to patients. Major Duties:

  • Analyzes patterns and trends to determine appropriate, effective, and economical prescribing and dispensing of drugs.
  • Serve on a variety of committees, boards, and other bodies representing the pharmacy specialty and providing authoritative input on pharmacy related matters.
  • Monitor the dispensing of pharmaceuticals in the Military Treatment and allied facilities.
  • Evaluate and prepare reports on the impact of alternative drug therapies employing pharmacoeconomic tools such as cost-benefit analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, cost-utility analysis, or cost-minimization analysis.
  • Participate in, conduct, or monitor studies involving pharmaceuticals and pharmacy related issues.
  • Prepare or conduct training of physicians, pharmacists, and other health care providers on the cost-effective use of drugs and other pharmaceuticals.
  • Recommend or initiate changes and updates to instructions, regulations and other guidance as needed.
  • Serve as an expert on pharmaceuticals, pharmacokinetics, drug use evaluations, and pharmacotherapeutics for the Military Treatment Facility.
