Basic Requirement for Pharmacist: Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.

Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017, or before.

Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia is required.

Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

Experience: One year of professional pharmacy experience which includes providing clinical pharmaceutical care to patients; advising on medication therapy management; and training or educating health care professionals on the use of drugs and other pharmaceuticals.

Major Duties:

  • Dispense, prescribe and administer medicine.
  • Screen for drug interactions and review pertinent laboratory results as part of the prescription verification process.
  • Document pharmaceutical care activities in the medical record as appropriate.
  • Monitor drug therapy to assure clinically appropriate balance of risks and benefits is maintained and modify the therapy when it differs from established clinical parameters or protocols.
  • Prepare complex combinations regimens for clinical protocols including new and investigational agents and biologic response modifiers.
