About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Falcon Dunes Golf Course on Luke AFB, AZ.

This is a Regular Part-Time position, guaranteed 20 hours and entitled to benefits. Handle materials weighing up to 100lbs, and occasionally heavier items with assistance.

Works in cramped and inconvenient positions for prolong periods. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, knelling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Experience which provided a knowledge of the methods employed in the location, recognition, control and prevention of common pests to this ornamental and turf plant pest.

Ability to perform arithmetic computations to properly mix and apply chemicals. Ability to distinguish different colors as spraying is done with marking colorant. Major Duties:

Dusts, sprays, and fogs pesticides, herbicides and insecticides to control pest common to this geographical area on the golf course, such as ants, army worms, wasp, sodweb worms, beetles, grubs, mole crickets, and other turf injuring or disease carrying insects found in buildings, warehouses; as well as a variety of lawn, bush, and tree insects.

Sets out bait/traps to catch rodents, and muskrat. Applies restricted use pesticides for weed and ground control around the golf course.

Selects, mixes and applies herbicides to areas of foliage to kill or prevent growth of noxious plant life and weeds.

Selects mixes and applies solutions, emulsions, suspensions, dust, and baits of varying percentages from concentrates or technical grade materials.

Performs arithmetic calculations to determine rate, use and quantity of pesticides, and to mix and apply pesticides using specific product label instructions to adhere to legally mandated requirements and to avoid misapplications which can present hazards to human health and environment.

Exercise caution and consideration in disbursing pesticides in areas where contamination or damage to property is likely or frequented by personnel, domestic animals, or desirable wildlife.

Wears such protective devices as respirators, ear protectors, eye guards, goggles, face shields, coats, and coveralls. Cleans/changes daily.

Performs operator maintenance on application equipment, such as changing nozzles, valves, and hoses. Lubricates motors, pumps and agitators using hand tools such as wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers.

Maintains daily records of pesticides used and pest control work accomplished, keeps records of inventory of chemicals and adjusts records accordingly as chemicals are used.
