This position will be assigned to the Air Force Services Center at Port San Antonio, TX. This is a Regular Full-Time category position with guaranteed 40 hrs. per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Experience with basic payroll processing, accounting, reconciliation, and customer service concepts is required. Experience with basic formulas in Microsoft Excel is required.
Desired Work Experience: Experience working with Microsoft Office application software to produce a wide range of office documents is desired.
Experience in payroll or general ledger accounting with commercial GAAP compliant accounting software is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Proficiency in typing and data entry.

Works in the Installation Support Directorate Shared Services Center Expenditure Branch, Payroll Section.
Performs a full range of payroll duties through the use of an Oracle based accounting system, Air Force Services Financial Management System (AFSFMS) using double-entry accounting methods.
Payroll Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of essential payroll and accounting duties in a team environment.
Key responsibilities include computing wage payments, calculating and recording deductions, processing new hires, terminations, and handling requests for special and third-party payments.
Additional expectations include maintaining accurate payroll records, reconciling payroll data, responding to customer inquiries, and coordinating with human resources, benefits, and accounting staff to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with all federal, state and local taxing authorities.
This position operates under the general supervision of the Payroll Section Chief and requires the use of departmental equipment to process payroll and generate reports.
The role ensures the accuracy of information, involves routine corrections to documents, meet established payroll deadlines, and safeguard sensitive and confidential information, and includes other related duties as assigned.
