About the Position: Serves as a Patient Safety Manager and Infection Preventionist performing duties in support of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and its geographic area of responsibility.
This position is located with the Fox Army Health Center SSO Stand-Alone MTF Redstone Arsenal, AL.

Basic Requirement for Patient Safety Manager and Infection Preventionist: Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.
This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in a clinic environment which includes monitoring patient safety and infection control processes; training staff members in infection control; and identifying or recommending improvements for patient safety and infection control programs.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D.
or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12.
Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
