Requirements

In this position, you will play a key role in enhancing visitors' experiences at the state park by welcoming them, addressing their inquiries, and sharing information about the park's amenities, programs, regulations, and natural attractions. Your responsibilities will include distributing maps and brochures, collecting fees for campsites and permits, and professionally handling phone inquiries. You will also patrol the park using various modes of transportation—such as vehicles, boats, bicycles, or on foot—to ensure visitor safety and adherence to park rules, while reporting any situations that may need law enforcement intervention.

Additionally, you will assist with group activities, check the safety and compliance of marina docks, maintain bulletin boards, and facilitate campground check-ins and reservations. Your role will also involve supporting park safety and maintenance by responding to emergencies, providing first aid and CPR, and aiding in search and rescue operations. You will inspect buildings and facilities for potential hazards, cleanliness, and security, while performing minor maintenance tasks and restocking supplies as necessary. Other duties include preparing daily ranger reports, managing lost-and-found items, operating two-way radios, and fostering positive relationships with coworkers, volunteers, and the public.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately April 2026, until November 2026. at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment April 2026, based on operational needs.
  • Days/shifts will vary due to the seasonal nature of the position, employee will work 37.5 hours/5 days per week to include holidays and weekends
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:

  • All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • All employees must obtain valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent within 60 days of employment.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
