Full Job Description

You will serve as a PAINTER SUPERVISOR I in the COATINGS & PRESERVATION SHOP, PRODUCTION RESURCES DEPARTMENT of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

  • You will plan weekly/monthly work schedules and worker assignments and coordinate availability of tools, equipment and materials.
  • You will review assigned job orders, workload data, plans, specifications, sketches and instructions.
  • You will assign tasks, tools, equipment and materials to workers.
  • You will instruct workers on proper work methods, difficult work operations, use and care of equipment, and safe work practices.
  • You will resolve working problems and take action to overcome bottlenecks, equipment breakdowns, material shortages and other delays.
  • You will ensure proper quantity of work from subordinates and inspect preservation work for quality and conformance with instructions and specifications.
  • You will be responsible for validity and correctness of all painter/blaster work performed.
  • You will be responsible for personnel management tasks such as On-the-job training of subordinates, evaluating employee performance, leave requests and approval, and recommending disciplinary or commendatory actions.
