This job involves inspecting and overseeing the painting, cleaning, and coating processes for aircraft, engine, and missile parts at a naval facility in California.
You'll check the quality of work done by others, ensure surfaces are properly prepared, and verify that protective finishes meet technical standards.
It's a good fit for someone with hands-on experience in metal processing and inspection who enjoys working in a team environment on military equipment maintenance.
You will serve as a PAINTER INSPECTOR in the MRO Production Group, Production Lines Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT 1) Performing the full range of functions assigned to the Components Processing shops.
2) Cleaning, preparing, coating and electroplating components (i.e. aircraft, missile, engine) and parts, by chemical, mechanical and sonic methods using various chemical solutions and abrasive grits.
Remove metal and non-metal surfaces using sandblasting equipment and perform preventive maintenance on the sandblasting equipment.
3) Performing visual and dimensional inspections, progressively, at designated stages during metal processing done by others, such as Cleaning, Sandblasting, Shot peening, Electroplating, Metal Spray, and Painting.
4) Inspecting and examining parts and assemblies to determine type of metal prior to applying appropriate protective finishes and colors in accordance with technical directives.
5) Inspecting surfaces to be painted to assure that all surface residues have been removed and surface treatments are performed.
6) Inspecting in-process and on completion of the cleaning and preparing of aircraft, engine and miscellaneous components and parts, by chemical, mechanical and sonic methods using various chemical solutions.
Controls and maintains temperature consistency and effectiveness of the various solutions.
