Summary

Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform the work of a Packer as demonstrated experience applying knowledge of various protective devices and cushioning materials, preserving and packing procedures and techniques, and of regulatory and safety requirements that apply to preserving, packing, labeling, storing, and shipping standard and nonstandard materials, devices, etc.

to perform the following: 1) Standardized, specialized, and/or custom preservation and packing work.

2) Basic computer skills to access regulations, prepare, and process shipping documentation and labels using stand-alone or database systems.

3) Using prescribed containers, protective devices, cushioning, methods and techniques are required in conjunction with size, type weight and security classification, fragility and/or hazardous materials requirements.

4) Using tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, power saws, stapling, strapping materials and banding machines, tape dispensers, vacuum and heat sealing machines.

  • You will perform a wide variety of standardized, specialized, and custom preservation and packing work.
  • You will adapt or modify sheets of cardboard, cushioning and similar materials to protect and/or preserve items.
  • You will apply oils, powders, desiccants, mists, drying agents, and other preservation materials to equipment and parts.
  • You will perform limited disassembly and assembly of equipment to access and apply preservatives.
  • You will use computers and computerized equipment to access regulatory requirements for packing hazardous items.
  • You will process all documentation, special handling labels, shipping codes, and required safety data including for hazardous materials.
  • You will select appropriate containers, protective devices, cushioning, methods and techniques are required in conjunction with size, type weight and security classification, fragility and/or hazardous materials requirements.
  • You will use tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, power saws, stapling, strapping materials and banding machines, tape dispensers, vacuum and heat sealing machines.
  • You will operate weight handling equipment such as hand lifts, pallet jacks, dollies, electric lifts and forklifts, tugs, trucks and warehouse platform lifts.
