Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a counselor in a summer day camp program run by the City of Indianapolis, where you'll supervise kids during activities like sports, arts, swimming, games, and crafts, while ensuring their safety and coordinating daily routines.

Job Summary

Position is responsible for every day operational tasks of the Summer Adventure Day Camp Program under the supervision of the Head Day Camp Counselor and the direction of the Park Manager/Sr. Coordinator.

Requirements

Follows all Indy Parks and Recreation Seasonal Policies and Procedures.

Monitors and supervises of campers and volunteers

Assists with the medical needs and camper safety while in the program

Coordinates daily camp and parent communication

Implements daily attendance procedures, activities, and field trip schedule

Supports campers in the camp or activities setting

Supports and assists campers while in activities such as swimming, games and crafts

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications

Should be at least 18 years of age and have at least 1year experience working with youth in a supportive environment. Must have current certification in CPR and First Aid prior to summer employment.

Must have good communication and organizational skills. Must attend Summer Day Camp Training and be able to start to work by May 26th. Must be able to work daytime hours ranging from 7:00am to 6:00pm..


Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications

Prefer any bilingual skills particularly in speaking Spanish, although not required. Additional Information Work is primarily performed in an outdoor setting at a park site.

Working conditions may include all outdoor weather and environmental conditions, traveling on buses or vans during field trips, in-water activities during pool use.

Work is performed in the company of large numbers of children, adults and general park users.
