Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading teams to analyze and plan workforce needs for the U.S.

Coast Guard, including studying how to distribute staff and structure organizations for major projects or system acquisitions.

It also includes overseeing modeling and simulation tasks for missions, innovating analytical methods, and advising on priorities and training.

A good fit would be someone with strong leadership in data analysis and project management, especially in government or defense settings, who enjoys tackling complex organizational challenges.

Full Job Description

This vacancy is for a GS-1515-14, Ops Research Spec located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, CG-DCS_84 in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia.

Basic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified.

You MUST meet the following requirements: EDUCATION: AND To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal or private sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

Specialized experience may include the following: Leading a team of Agency Workforce Manpower analysts, with overall project responsibility as the primary organizational or project representative conducting Service-wide (or major component thereof) studies or projects dealing with significant changes in workforce distribution, positions, or related organizational structures.

Serving as a member of Acquisitions Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Work Groups, responsible for the determination of the proper quantity and quality (i.e., experience, specific capabilities, and other human characteristics) of military billets/civilian positions/contractor man-hours and the organizational structures needed to operate, maintain, and support all systems acquisitions.

Coordinating efforts of personnel working on projects so that goals are achieved in a timely manner.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. Major Duties:

You will serve as a Ops Research Spec and be responsible for overseeing the execution of all campaign M&S tasks and serve as a chief advisor and master analyst.

Typical work assignments include: Support the development and integration of mission and complex campaign analysis Assign teamwork based on corporate knowledge of scientific programs Lead in the design, development, adaptation and innovation of mathematical and statistical methods.

Set and adjust long/short-term priorities and prepares schedules Provide and arrange necessary development and training.
