Job Description

Summary

This job involves using math and data skills to analyze and plan military space operations for the U.S. Space Force, helping design strategies and resources to protect national interests in space.

You'll solve complex problems, brief high-level leaders, and work on simulations and readiness assessments in a fast-paced Pentagon environment.

It's a great fit for analytical thinkers with advanced degrees in fields like operations research or statistics, who enjoy challenging work with real impact and have some military or strategy experience.

Key Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience applying analytic techniques to solve complex problems in strategy, resource analysis, or operations
  • Knowledge of analytical methods for planning, force design, and campaign analysis
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for briefing senior leaders
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead a small to medium-sized team
  • Familiarity with safety, security regulations, and investigative techniques
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, data visualization, or human capital analytics is a plus

The United States Space Force (USSF) at the Pentagon is searching for an Operations Research Analyst to support S9A (NH-1515-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent). Description: Come join us as we build the U.S.

Space Force and design the future force the nation requires to succeed in space. We need eager, analytic entrepreneurs looking for challenging and rewarding adventure.

Build and capitalize on your analytic, problem-solving expertise. Hone your communication skills as you'll likely be briefing a Colonel in the morning and a 2-Star in the afternoon.

The future is Space and we need to build a military component to protect our future. As the first Digital Service, your analysis skills are critical and highly needed.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate has experience using their degree (Masters or PhD preferred) in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or Industrial Engineering, or a demonstrated career of using analytic techniques to solve complex/challenging problems.

Service Headquarters or Field Command/Major Command experience is a plus.

Experience in strategy and resource analysis; operational, campaign, or enterprise level modeling, simulation and analysis; operations and readiness analysis, or human capital analytics is useful.

Data visualization and data analytics application is also a plus. Key Skills and Abilities: 1.

Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques applied planning and programming, architecting, force design, or campaign analysis. 2.

Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. 4.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 5. Skill in fact finding and investigative techniques to research problems and provide solutions.
