About the position: This position is located at the Pet Kennel, Misawa AB, Japan. The purpose of this position is to perform administrative support work.

This is a Flexible employment category position; guaranteed 0 hours per week but may work up to 40 hours per week, depending on the needs of the facility.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying Experience: Experience in responsible clerical or office work of any kind which demonstrates the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position.

Required to demonstrate possession of an adequate degree of proficiency in typing methods using word processing equipment. Ability to read, write and speak English and use of computer.

Must possess good communication skills. In addition, applicant must be able to work with animals under varied situations. Experience involving public contact or service is desirable.

Must be comfortable handling dogs and cats. Condition(s) of Employment: Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required.

Must initiate pre-rabies vaccine series within 60 days of employment. **Non-U.S. Citizens must have resided physically in the United States or U.S.

Territory for at least 3 years prior to employment.** Major Duties:

The incumbent receives and relays incoming and outgoing telephone calls, answers routine inquiries and schedules appointments. Receives and checks-in clients, pulls medical records.

Collects and records charges, prepares vaccination and/or health certificates.

Maintains and updates medical records and administrative files using an automated system with commercially available software; files reports, laboratory results and other information as required.

Performs scheduled inventory of supplies, drugs and equipment, ensures stock rooms are maintained in a neat and orderly fashion.

Restocks depleted supplies through known and accepted sources, prepares and submits purchase orders; ensures orders received are for the correct items and proper amounts prior to acceptance.

Prepares appropriate cash control paperwork and makes bank deposits.

Types a variety of correspondence, to include medical and euthanasia certificates, laboratory reports and standard office correspondence.

Ensures that the clinic is maintained in a neat, clean and sanitary condition. Responsible for recording all reservations and checking in/out clients.

May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Performs other duties as assigned.
