Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing various clerical support functions, such as using office automation systems to generate a variety of documents, maintaining office calendar to schedule appointments or meetings, and updating and entering data into electronic files or systems.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Major Duties:

  • Work closely with the Clinic Manager and/or Medical Division Head.
  • Establish and manage a full range of administrative functions.
  • Screen and schedule new patient consults.
  • Create telephone consults to physicians using the computer-based record system specific to Radiation Oncology and outpatient recording system for DoD.
  • Effectively laisse with external agencies serving as the primary Veterans Affairs(VA) Patient coordinator for Radiation Oncology care.
  • Coordinate timing of combined same day surgery/radiation procedures with surgical services.
  • Function as front desk clerical back up/fill-in during clinical working hours.
