Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position is located in an Army brigade area on an Army installation and not within a medical clinic.

Supports the Health and Fitness (H2F) system and is an unrestricted licensed Occupational Therapist preferred to have board certification in support of the brigade mission.

Who May Apply: US Citizens ***Special Note for Military Members*** MILITARY RETIREES: A retired member of the Armed Forces may not be appointed to a civilian position in DoD (including a non-appropriated fund position) within 180 days after retirement [** unless the following conditions have been met: the Secretary concerned authorizes the appointment; or the position is authorized special pay under 5 U.S.C.

5305; or a state of national emergency exists]. MILITARY SEPARATED (NON-RETIREE): Military members may be appointed while on terminal leave, before the effective date of their military separation.

Applications will only be accepted from members of the Armed Forces that indicate they are immediately appoint-able within 120 days.

If you are currently stationed in the overseas area, all of your overseas time will be credited toward your current overseas tour end date.

Your overseas time served will not reset upon accepting this assignment.

If you have returned from OCONUS within the past 2 years or less, your time previously served in the OCONUS area will be credited to your 5 year overseas rotation upon accepting this assignment.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Basic Requirement for Occupational Therapist (Holistic Health and Fitness): Degree: A graduate (or higher level) degree that included an occupational therapy curriculum approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S.

Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained, and completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Certification: Applicants must have passed the national examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0631 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017, or before.

Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing evaluations in adult populations, implementing therapeutic modalities aimed at performance optimization, and coordinating care with an interdisciplinary team.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Major Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to maximize soldier performance and improve unit readiness.
  • Participates in a holistic health and fitness team to coordinate the rehabilitation or wellness activities for individual soldiers or groups of soldiers with the brigade.
  • Gather holistic health and fitness program data and create unit readiness reports to identify the effectiveness of the holistic health and fitness program against established metrics.
  • Identify resource, space, and supply needs and communicate with unit logistics personnel, the program director, or unit leadership for supply, purchase, or maintenance.
