Help shape a safer workplace across the state in this impactful role as a trusted training professional.
In this position, you’ll support the agency’s mission by ensuring occupational health and safety training is thoughtfully developed, effectively delivered, and accurately documented for a diverse workforce of approximately 2,500 employees, volunteers, student interns, and contractors.
Working closely with training and safety professionals, you’ll play a key role in identifying training needs tied to real-world job hazards and ensuring programs meet regulatory requirements while reducing risk, liability, and adverse outcomes.
You’ll plan, develop, and deliver a variety of courses, either directly or through managed training contracts, and ensure all training is properly tracked within the learning management system.
This role also focuses on continuous improvement, giving you the opportunity to evaluate and enhance training systems and programs to better support the agency’s evolving safety needs.
What to Expect-
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Occupational Health & Safety Training Coordinator will,
Facilitate, develop, and deliver occupational health and safety training via contracts, in-person, virtual, or e-learning courses:
Provide professional training consultation and develop, disseminate, and respond to employee training communications:
Manage training equipment inventory, logistics, and maintenance:
Collaborate across the department to develop and maintain agency policies, standard operating procedures, safety manuals, and guidelines involving occupational health and safety training:
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work Setting, including hazards:
Work in remote areas, office, on and around water, operating vehicles, All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV)/ Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTV), snowmobiles, heavy equipment, machinery, chainsaws, tools, chemicals, confined spaces and other job hazards identified requiring training.
This position may involve working in or near water, including tasks that require navigating, negotiating, and performing duties related to water environments.
Schedule:
Typically, Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Workload demands may require work outside the assigned work hours and adjustment of work schedules. This position is eligible for telework as agreed upon with Supervisor and agency training needs.
Travel Requirements:
Travel up to 25% of time to provide statewide training.
Tools and Equipment:
Truck, trailer, ATV, UTV, snowmobiles, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Customer Interactions:
Interact with the Executive Management Team, supervisors/managers and employees, volunteers, student interns, contractors, external partners, and the public.
