This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, C. M. Tucker Campus, Roddey Pavilion 2200 Harden Street Columbia, SC. 29203

As the Nurse Supervisor / Clinical Nurse Leader, working under general supervision, you will provide 24 hours / 7 days a week supervision of nursing staff, in the provision of nursing care, to a unit of residents to include: planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and delegating nursing care.

Also, you will implement and evaluate quality measures, QAPI plan and outcomes of unit-based quality initiatives.

Responsibilities for the Clinical Nurse Leader:

Make daily clinical rounds to observe and assess nursing care. Ensure that nursing standards and facility policies are maintained, while providing for the residents' individual needs.

Put evidence-based practice into action to ensure that residents' benefit from the latest innovations in care delivery.

  • Ensure compliance and implements necessary corrective actions according to regulatory agency standards and survey reports.
  • Assume leadership and responsibility of QAPI activities for unit which includes collecting and analyzing data such as M-300s. Casper Reports, infection rates, and falls. Monitor data using quality improvement strategies to increase quality outcomes.
  • Function as part of an inter-professional team by communicating, planning and implementing are directly with other healthcare professionals, including LLP, pharmacists, social workers, resource nurses, activity therapists, nurse practitioners, and other counselors.

    Participate in the resident care conference (RCC). Perform ongoing nursing assessments and updates treatment plans, as necessary.

  • Plan, assign, coordinate, and evaluate competency of nursing personnel.
  • Assume the duties of the nursing supervisor and participate in committees as assigned.
  • Requirements

    • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience.
    • An associate or bachelor's degree in nursing with three (3) years' experience as a registered nurse, one (1) of which must be nursing management. Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of South Carolina Board of Nursing.
    Additional Requirements:
    • Ability to lift up to (50) pounds; ability to stand, walk, reach, pull, push, stoop, bend and climb at least two or three flights of stairs. Ability to tolerate noise level and circulate in resident areas for long periods. Must be able to work with repetitive resident behaviors.

    Qualifications

    • Long-Term care experience and a minimum of one (1) year nursing leadership experience.
    • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

    • Have knowledge of the principles, practices, theories and techniques of nursing, teaching methods applicable to nursing, principles and practices of nursing administration in a healthcare facility, certification requirements and standards for healthcare facilities and medical terminology.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, plan, organize, supervise, direct and evaluate the work of other employees, establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of patients and families, follow detailed instructions of a technical and professional nature, and develop and implement nursing programs.
