Summary

This temporary school nurse position involves providing health care, education, and emergency support to students in a middle school on a military base, helping to manage overall school health programs until mid-2026.

Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Education Requirement: A minimum of bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) and hold current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by a State Board of Nursing OR a school nurse license issued by a State Board of Education.

A baccalaureate degree other than nursing is acceptable only with a current and valid RN license issued by a State Board of Nursing OR a school nurse license issued by a State Board of Education and specialized experience is met.

Current and valid state RN license must be provided and maintained throughout employment with DoDEA.

AND Specialized Experience Requirement: A minimum of one year experience as a school nurse or school nurse substitute in a PK-12 school setting. Major Duties:

  • Provides classroom instruction and individual student health education and counseling.
  • Provides emergency care of illness or injury occurring during school hours according to standard first aid guidelines.
  • Maintains health information and documents.
  • Collaborates with teachers and other school personnel to interpret pupil health status.
  • Participates in the establishment, management, and evaluation of a comprehensive school health program.
