Base salary range: $147,649 - $221,900

This part-time Nurse II role at a Colorado veterans' nursing facility involves providing hands-on care to residents, including assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning to ensure their comfort and safety.
It focuses on long-term care, rehabilitation, and support for veterans in a skilled nursing environment.
A good fit would be a compassionate registered nurse with experience in geriatric or veteran care who thrives in a team setting with low staff turnover.

Plans and coordinates basic nursing care and provides skilled level of nursing to residents.
Reviews and audits specific care activities to determine compliance with policies and standards of care as part of a department quality assurance activity.
Performs both admission and daily assessments during resident clinical stay, identifying critical stay, interventions, treatment care plan and physician referrals.
Document current, accurate and pertinent information regarding care and treatment provided.
Detects abnormality in resident’s health status indicated by symptoms, vital signs, assessment and laboratory results and reports information to physician.
Provides a broad range of medical and nursing treatments to residents as prescribed within scope of practice and determines most effective methods to ensure optimal outcomes.
Utilizes supplies and resources judiciously. Documents treatments and gathers data to determine response to treatment.
Participates in work teams to establish best practice protocols for common treatments or procedures. Administers specialized and routine nursing services such as medication and treatments.
Administer IV fluids (If IV certified) as prescribed by a physician. Assess and evaluates the effectiveness of the care /treatment given.
Explaining patient care before, during and after contacts; answering call lights; and assessing basic resident care needs; updating noted resident changes; recommending routines for patient and family.
Provide input and orientation for new employees.
Competently administers medications to residents within scope of practice while observing the five rights of safe medication administration, resident rights, infection control standards, and appropriate nursing policies.
Documents all medications given and justification for scheduled medications not given.
Directs and implements nursing care to residents by ensuring compliance with accepted standards of nursing care, departmental and facility policies and procedures and VA and State of Colorado regulatory requirements.
Directs subordinates to assure these standards are met
Provide infection control, implementing/using standard precautions, disposal of waste. Clean equipment, stock supplies, complete supply forms.
Identifies high-risk residents for falls, skin breakdown, or other potentially harmful situations and assures appropriate interventions are initiated to correct problems
Correct use of safety/positioning devices, side rails, transfer belts, proper use of equipment, attend on-going staff education programs.
Maintain updated skills, knowledge, abilities and competencies necessary to the position through continuing education, clinical supervision, literature review and participating in discipline and team development
Special Qualifications:
Required to obtain a CPR card and possess and maintain a Colorado RN license in good standing
Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) Two (2) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position

Appropriate education will substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis
