Summary

This job is for a nurse who provides everyday health care in a military clinic at Fort Drum, New York, including checking patients, giving medications, and helping with doctor visits and education on self-care.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Basic Requirement for Nurse (Clinical/ Case Management): Degree: Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; or At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.). Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (external link).

In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Foreign Degree: A degree from a Foreign Nursing School.

Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools Education/Experience: A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and possession of at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or above) which includes providing comprehensive ambulatory nursing care to patients; administering medications; and providing patient or staff education.

OR Education: A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field including but not limited to PhD in Nursing (Doctor of Philosophy), DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice), DNS/DNSc (Doctor of Nursing Science), EdD in Nursing Education (Doctor of Education), DNE (Doctor of Nursing Education), PhD in Nursing Science/Healthcare, PhD in Public Health, or Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc).

EXEMPTION: You are exempt from the qualification requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before.

Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. Major Duties:

  • Report tests results, symptoms, and monitors pre, during and post-procedures.
  • Serve as a relief nurse by performing telephone and clinical triage of patients to facilitate care coordination.
  • Communicate and assist health care providers with examinations and procedures.
  • Assist with educating patients with such things as self-care and prevention measures.
  • Consult and coordinates with other multi-disciplinary care professionals, agencies, organizations and other ancillary support systems.
  • Serve as a liaison between the patient and the health care professionals.
