Requirements

As a Nurse Aide, you will provide comprehensive skilled care and personal care to patients. You will use excellent observation skills to help identify and report changes in inmate conditions to appropriate supervisors. Duties will include:


  • Collecting specimens for lab work
  • Assisting with daily living routines
  • Ensuring hygiene and basic physical needs are met
  • Completing documentation
  • Responding to urgent situations as they arise
  • Maintaining adequate stock of supplies and equipment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
    • 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
    • You will have rotating days off.
    • Work hours TO BE DETERMINED.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.


Special Requirement:

  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
