Requirements

As a Nurse Aide at the Southeastern Veterans' Center, you will be the heart of daily life for our residents, delivering essential personal care, offering emotional support, and ensuring comfort through every routine.

You will foster independence and joy, becoming a trusted presence who truly elevates their daily experience and quality of life.

Some of your duties will include distributing meal trays, applying safety devices, and reporting data such as vital signs.

Others tasks involve transporting and escorting residents to outside appointments as necessary.

Additionally, you will maintain a safe environment for residents and strictly follow infection control procedures and universal health care precautions.

Furthermore, you will have an opportunity to actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss treatment plans.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (8 hours per day/40 hours per week)
  • Work hours will be determined from the following shifts, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days and weekends, with every other weekend off.
    • 2nd shift: 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
    • 3rd shift: 11:15 PM to 7:45 AM
  • Training is conducted on 1st shift: 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM.
  • Overtime as operationally necessary
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • DMVA is pleased to announce the launch of a Nursing Referral Program, promoting the hiring and retention of nursing staff at Pennsylvania’s veterans homes. Under this program, both referring employees and referred candidates may be eligible for payments of up to $4,000.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
