Summary

This job is for a nurse aide at a Pennsylvania veterans' home, where you'll help provide daily care and support to veterans and their spouses in a long-term facility.

  • Six months of paid experience in caring for geriatric or physically ill patients (alternative to certification)
  • Ability to perform essential job functions in a long-term care facility
  • Successful completion of medical examination as a condition of employment
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearances, per Older Adult Protective Services Act
  • Full-time availability for 2nd or 3rd shift (2:45 PM-11:15 PM or 10:45 PM-7:15 AM), including every other weekend
  • No telework option; on-site work required

Requirements

Our enthusiastic and dedicated nursing staff provides comprehensive, 24-hour care, seven days per week.

You will play an essential role in our residents' experiences by assisting with daily routines and encouraging participation in enriching activities.

Your exceptional care and meaningful interactions will have a positive impact on our veterans and their spouses that provides genuine enjoyment and quality of life.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM) and 3rd shift (10:45 PM to 7:15 AM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will be required to work every other weekend.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • DMVA is pleased to announce the launch of a Nursing Referral Program, promoting the hiring and retention of nursing staff at Pennsylvania’s veterans homes. Under this program, both referring employees and referred candidates may be eligible for payments of up to $4,000.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.


Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
