Base salary range: $51,332 - $66,732

This position is located at the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH), Healthcare Services.
The primary purpose of the position is to provide professional acute and rehabilitation/restorative nursing to geriatric residents with chronic disease.
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.
One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Specialized experience includes one year of experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent that includes: Conducting patient/resident assessment; AND Developing and carrying out nursing care plans; AND Medication administration (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, topical, rectal, intravenous, etc.); AND Communicating patient/resident condition and changes to patient/resident, nursing personnel, physicians, and family members.
OR Education: Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field (e.g., chemistry, biology, microbiology).
Degrees from Foreign Nursing Schools: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
SPECIAL NOTE: Long-term care experience and/or interacting with geriatric patients is highly desired. Registration: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
CPR certification is mandatory. Major Duties:
As a Nurse, you will: Implement physician's orders and initiates nursing care plans for selected individual patients. Transcribes and implements the provider's written orders.
Serve as primary nursing case manager including making written assignments, directing personnel inpatient care tasks, and evaluating the effectiveness of performance.
Monitor residents status and treat for problems such as nausea, vomiting, pain, temperature elevation, and dehydration.
