This job involves providing hands-on nursing care to elderly veterans in a state-run facility, managing their medications, daily needs, and emotional support while overseeing other staff members.
Nurses in this role work with a team of health professionals to create personalized care plans for residents dealing with chronic illnesses, dementia, or mental health issues.

Nurse III deals primarily with the treatment of residents who suffer from geriatric disorders, medical problems and mental health conditions.
They are schooled in basic nursing care with further training in dealing with and controlling residents in varying levels of medical conditions, whether acute, chronic or degenerative cognitive breakdown such as dementia.
A Nurse III is usually assigned a caseload of specific residents and provides supervision of direct care to their residents, supervising the resident’s medication schedule, facilitating the social and emotional needs of residents, evaluating residents’ progress and dispensing resident’s medication.
Nurse III must collaborate with a variety of interdisciplinary professionals to determine and provide the best possible individualized care for their residents.
As many residents are hospitalized because they have acute or chronic conditions, nurses are responsible for maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff through the use of monitoring systems and intervention techniques were deemed necessary as per policy.
In addition to the basic nurse duties the Nurse III is responsible for evaluation of subordinate employees.
The Nurse III is also responsible for shared and delegated administrative duties with the Nursing Director. Positions are at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility. Shift work may be required.
Performs related work as required.
