Full Job Description

You will serve as a NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING MECHANIC TRAINING LEADER in the ???????Production Trades Division, Industrial Execution Department at Fleet Readiness Centers (FRC) Southwest of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1.) Provide formal and on-the-job training for nondestructive testing mechanic trade.

The purpose of this position is to conduct training sessions in five or more different areas of the Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) program utilizing on the job and classroom methods of instruction.

2.) Conduct training sessions formal organized training programs (CANTRAC) which covers all phases of the nondestructive Inspection (NDI) program designed to progressively improve the student's skills.

3.) Working knowledge as a journeyman NDI technician, certified and licenses as a level II in five or more of the NDI Methods.

4.) Determine independently the equipment and process procedures required to obtain the most efficient and economical work operations.

5.) Use independent judgment and is innovative in making decisions within the parameters of oral and written instructions to complete an assigned work request.

  • You will conduct training sessions under formal organized training programs which covers all phases of the nondestructive Inspection.
  • You will develop course outlines, training course material, task analysis, job breakdowns, testing material and student evaluations from raw technical data and job experience.
  • You will prepare course of instruction for use in class, on-the-job, and for other agency use.
  • You will revise and adapt daily lessons plans, develop demonstration aides and perform other tasks to develop and present NDI training courses.
  • You will provide administrative control over the NDI training program within the branch including counseling students on technical material, advising and assisting the management in planning and executing NDI training
  • You will coordinate with staff training reports and incidents of training for Navy record purposes and maintain adequate records of NDI training.
