Full Job Description

You will serve as a Non-Destructive Test Inspector (CRITICAL SKILLS) in the Nondestructive Test (NDT) Division (code 135) which is part of the Quality Assurance Department (code130) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

  • You will maintain all listed qualifications and certifications through periodic performance and written or operational examinations.
  • You will inspect items including surface ship and submarine structural and mechanical systems, machinery, piping, pressure vessels, and nuclear cognizant components.
  • You will provide inspection guidance, direction, or other informal training to apprentices, helper trainees, or other employees.
  • You will communicate Non-Destructive Testing inspection results to the requesting activity as well as to Quality Assurance and Engineering/Technical personnel.
  • You will perform Non-Destructive Testing inspections on a wide variety of structures and components involved with the shipbuilding, repair, and overhaul of Naval vessels.
  • You will maintain supplemental qualifications necessary to perform required Non-Destructive Testing inspections, including but not limited to confined space, respirator, and fall protection.
  • You will effectively communicate both orally and in writing with all levels of personnel.
