This role supports the Newborn Screening Program at Colorado's Department of Public Health & Environment by assisting with tasks like data entry, sample processing, and coordination to ensure newborns are screened for health conditions early.
It involves working in a hybrid setup, helping to protect public health through accurate and timely program operations.
Ideal candidates are detail-oriented individuals with administrative experience in healthcare or public health who enjoy contributing to community well-being.

Reviews, tracks, and documents NBS specimens within laboratory information management system (LIMS) to ensure timely and appropriate follow up actions including review of patient demographics (e.g.
gestational age, sex, birth weight etc.) utilizing the guidance from SOP or the assigned bench scientist.
Identifies, records, and reports specimens requiring additional action to the NBS Supervisor or designated NBS staff.
Provides administrative support to Follow-Up including answering phones, faxing, scheduling meetings, resetting stakeholder passwords, filing, record retention, mailing reports, and other tasks as assigned.
For any ambiguous requests or questions from stakeholders that are not at the defined level, guidance should be sought from the Newborn Follow-Up Supervisor or follow-up colleagues to ensure clarity and appropriate action.
Maintenance of general email inbox and ensuring all communications are properly addressed.
For any unclear inquiries within the general email, clarification should be sought from internal resources for education and outreach, SOPS, and asking the Newborn Follow-Up Supervisor or follow up colleagues to define the next steps needed to address the inquiry.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:Four (4) years of relevant experience* in a critical public health campaign program, community health outreach, public health, and or public administration.
OR
A combination of related education** public health, biology, community outreach and/or engagement, healthcare, or closely-related field; and/or relevant experience* in community health outreach, public health, or public administration that is equal to four (4) years.
