The role supports responsible use of public lands while providing a supportive office environment with training and flexible work options.

What You Will Be Doing:
This is an entry-level technical position within the Permitting Unit of the Southcentral Regional Land Office (SCRO).

Adjudication involves verification of completeness of applications, extensive research into land records such as title, land status, planning documents, ownership, and ultimately if it is in the State’s best interest to issue a permit.
Conducting field inspections to verify permit compliance is required.
Mission and Values/Culture:
The DNR mission statement is to “Develop, conserve, and maximize the use of Alaska's natural resources consistent with the public interest.” The DMLW mission is to “To provide for the appropriate use and management of Alaska's state-owned land and water, aiming toward maximum use consistent with the public interest.” The Natural Resource Specialist supports these missions through the collection of revenue from permit fees, presents an indirect benefit by supporting public and commercial recreation, and by allowing commercial use of State land, which encourages responsible development of the state’s resources.
Benefits of Joining Our Team:
The Permitting Unit is a team of nine professionals who work closely together to provide excellent customer service, efficient and transparent permit processing, and strive to ensure compliant use of state lands and resources.
Working within the unit is exciting, interesting, and challenging in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Training is provided in many areas, including office and field training.
We also offer hybrid telework and/or alternative workweek options.
The Working Environment You Can Expect:
Located on the ninth floor of the Robert B. Atwood building in downtown Anchorage, our office has a positive atmosphere geared towards collaboration and teamwork.
The office has a beautiful view of the Chugach Mountain Range and offers free parking. The Atwood building is near coffee shops, restaurants, shopping, the park strip, and the Coastal Trail system.
