Job Description

Summary

This job involves planning and managing satellite communications for military operations in the eastern region, ensuring forces get the access they need to deploy effectively using Department of Defense satellites.

You'll handle requests for satellite resources, develop solutions for complex problems, and support combat commands with technical advice and operational plans.

The United States Space Force (USSF) at MacDill AFB, Tampa FL is searching for a Narrowband Planner for RSSC-EAST (NH-0391-03, GS-12/13 equivalent).

General Description: Provides management and planning for user missions on DoD SATCOM constellations for RSSC-East.

Engages in emergent, near, and long-range planning and provides or directs timely responses to requests for satellite resource access/allocations.

Provides direct technical and operational planning, system configuration and operational mission support to assigned CCMD's in formulating and implementing operational plans, operational orders, and other operational directives involving the deployment of all CCMD forces requiring the utilization of DoD SATCOM.

Maintains situational awareness of satellite access requests (SARs) for accuracy, assesses the requirements, develops technical and efficient solutions to satisfy the requirements, and provides quality control for satellite access authorizations (SAAs) to user and SATCOM Command and Control elements within timeframes established by higher authorities.

Conducts operational planning and management actions for the orderly transfer of satellite control and management to the appropriate RSSC when deployment or satellite accesses cross regional boundaries.

Ideal Candidate: Expert knowledge in a variety of professional, technical, and specialty fields based on formal education, professional training, and relevant work experience in DoD SATCOM to serve as the technical expert for the organization.

7. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives, make recommendations, and take action.
