This job involves running a fitness program at a Navy facility in California, where you'll design workouts, teach classes, test fitness levels, and manage equipment to help military personnel stay healthy.
It's ideal for someone energetic with experience in fitness training who enjoys working with groups and ensuring safety in a recreational setting.
You'll supervise the facility and may guide other staff while handling registrations and basic admin tasks.
Incumbent works in the Commander, Navy Region, Southwest (CNRSW) Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Program under the general supervision of the designated manager.
Incumbent is responsible for the management, supervision, design, administration, operation, and technical direction of a fitness facility and the fitness program within the Southwest Region.
A minimum of one-year experience that demonstrates a working knowledge of the assigned program. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required.
Nationally recognized fitness certification required or be able to obtain certification within 90 days of employment. Major Duties:
Plans, organizes, and conducts a physical fitness program that provides conditioning programs for authorized patrons.
Instructs individuals and groups in the proper implementation and maintenance of conditioning and training programs for aerobic fitness, muscular fitness, body composition, and flexibility training.
Conducts micro-fit testing, which includes measuring individuals aerobic capacities, their body fat percentage, recommended height/weight ratios, strength, flexibility, muscular endurance and blood pressure.
Works with various command representatives in developing and implementing physical fitness programs for military personnel.
Instructs patrons in the proper use of all equipment for training and self-monitored progress by preparing written instruction and procedures for the performance of work, use of equipment, safety and well being of all involved.
May train/lead other employees in various recreation/physical fitness-related positions. Registers students, collects fees, maintain attendance and appropriate accounting records.
Ensure all safety measures are observed. Responsible for care of equipment and security facilities. Performs other duties as assigned.
