Full Job Description

This Part-Time position is located at Hillside Youth Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee: Available to MWR CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours) First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child: At least 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job.

Requires a commercial drivers license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a passenger vehicle that carries 16 or more.

Applicants must submit a CDL copy with applicable endorsements, (P) = Passenger and (S) = School bus, to be found eligible. Major Duties:

  • Ensures the safety and well-being of children, youth and adults being transported to and from the program and on field trips. Knowledge of how to properly load and unload passengers. Skill in selecting the shortest and safest route.
  • Ensures children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus. Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis.
  • Knowledge of height, weight, width, and length of passenger shuttle vans, and cargo vans in order to judge overhead and side clearances, turning radius and braking distance.
  • Work requires walking, lifting and carrying items weighing 40 pounds or less, driving, bending and stooping. Drives outside in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a military installation.
  • Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change) transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities.
