Job Description

Summary

This job involves driving large trucks and vehicles to transport supplies, equipment, fuel, passengers, or to tow and recover items across states, on highways, rough roads, and military bases.

It requires safe operation in busy traffic and varied conditions without accidents.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience driving heavy vehicles, who follows instructions well and can handle maintenance basics.

Key Requirements

  • At least 12 months of experience operating straight-in-line trucks over 32,000 pounds gross vehicle weight
  • Experience driving truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches
  • Ability to drive on diverse roads including interstates, narrow country roads, and steep grades
  • Proven safe driving record in complex traffic without mishaps
  • Skills in basic operator maintenance on vehicles
  • Eligibility for National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service as an Enlisted member
  • Ability to transport cargo, fuel, passengers, or tow/recover equipment in restricted and cross-country conditions

Full Job Description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR, Position Description Number D1907000 and is part of the UNITED STATES PROPERTY AND FISCAL OFFICE, National Guard.

This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants.

Military Grades: Enlisted GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 months experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate and perform operator maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds.

Experience demonstrating ability to operate truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches.

Experience operating vehicles over a variety of roads including interstate highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades.

Experience driving vehicles without mishap in complicated traffic situations. Major Duties:

As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR, WG-5703-08, you will transport supplies and equipment intra and inter State using a variety of wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport passengers or to tow or recover equipment.

Vehicles are driven in restricted traffic environments on Government installations, and over public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions.
