Summary

This job involves managing logistics for U.S.

Border Patrol, such as tracking equipment, handling property inventories, and coordinating the transport or disposal of materials in a secure government setting.

It's ideal for someone with experience in inventory management or supply chain roles who enjoys organized, detail-oriented work in a federal agency focused on border security.

Candidates with a background in business or logistics, plus relevant education or volunteer experience, would fit well.

Key Requirements

  • 1 year of specialized experience at GS-10 level for GS-11, including property inventories, maintaining records, coordinating material transport for destruction, tracking sensitive assets, and processing lost/stolen/destroyed property

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S.

Border Patrol, Houlton Sector, Mission Readiness Operations, located in Hodgdon, ME.

Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Conducting property inventories and maintaining property records; Coordinating the transportation of materials designated for destruction; Identifying and tracking sensitive assets and equipment; Assisting in the processing of lost, stolen, destroyed or missing Agency property and equipment.

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Evaluating expenditures and invoices to ensure allocations, commitments and expenditures are project and spent accordingly; Developing protocols for property and equipment acquisition, use and accountability; Conducting property inventories and maintaining property records; Identifying and tracking sensitive property and equipment; Processing lost, stolen, destroyed or missing property and equipment.

or an equivalent doctoral degree, three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M.

degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience required at this level.

(A course of study in business, international business, or a related field is qualifying.) Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise three years of graduate study.

If that information is not available, use 54 semester or 81 quarter hours. GS-12: There is no education substitution for the GS-12 grade level.

Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages.

The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.

Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at the grade GS-11.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 03/30/2026.

This position allows you to use your knowledge and experience with a variety of logistical mission support performing significant review of budgets, logistics, procurement, inventory management and other areas of mission support resources.

This position starts at a salary of $74,678.00 (GS-11, Step 1) to $116,362.00 (GS-12, Step 10).

As a Mission Support Specialist (Logistics), you will be applying a wide range of administrative programs concepts, laws, policies, practices and analytical methods to address technical issues or problems relating to logistics and procurement services and processes.

Duties include: Managing the sector/station property program to include overseeing the ordering, receiving, inventorying, transferring, and excessing property.

Creating requisitions and purchase orders to ensure budget approval; performing Purchase Card transactions.

Managing Fleet program to include ordering, receiving, inventorying, transferring and excess fleet vehicles; managing fleet records and various fleet reports.

Performing ongoing mentoring, training and guidance to peers, colleagues, employees and supervisors; assisting with developing and recommending solutions to a wide variety of logistics operations to improve services and process.

Performing other mission support related activities such as scheduling travel, processing personnel actions for payroll, vacation and overtime; managing fleet card programs performing audits, extracting reports, reporting fraud and processing override requests.
