Summary

This job as a Mission Support Assistant involves providing administrative and logistical support to U.S.

Border Patrol operations, such as handling procurement, managing service requests, and improving office processes to keep things running smoothly.

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S.

Border Patrol, Blaine Sector: Bellingham Station Sumas Station Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement.

Required Experience: To qualify for the GS-06 grade level you must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing broad assistance to other mission support personnel to include procurement of routine equipment and services, preparing purchase orders, assisting in identifying potential suppliers and coordinating as needed.

Monitoring, receiving, prioritizing, and routing service requests.

Providing customer service by answering routine questions, directing callers to the appropriate staff, and maintaining a calendar to include major events for planning purposes.

Assisting in coordinating and monitoring the organization's property management and space utilization program.

To qualify for the GS-07 grade level you must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Analyzing, evaluating, and improving the efficiency of internal administrative processes, workflow, and reporting/tracking systems.

Utilizing automated systems to search various government and open market sources for information on purchasing products and/or services.

Developing, evaluating, and advising on the methods related to administrative or records management systems' directives management, mail management, or forms management.

Performing other office automation tasks, in combination with clerical work performed as part of the general office support.

This position uses your knowledge and experience to provide clerical support and assistance with applying technical procedures, methods, and techniques in support of the mission and functions of the agency.

This position starts at a salary of $51,037.00 (GS-06, Step 1) to $73,731.00 (GS-07, Step 10).

The Mission Support Assistant uses various systems to support the office, including activities as arranging meetings and conferences, managing a supervisor's calendar, collecting and analyzing data; duties and responsibilities include: Assisting higher graded staff in providing direct support to employees and managers on various policy and procedural tasks; coordinating fleet management and maintenance.

Assisting in the coordination and monitoring of organizational property; maintaining an inventory of office supplies for the team to ensure availability.

Coordinating with other employees on basic matters, reports, and a variety of entry-level actions using appropriate automated systems.

Monitoring, coordinating, and maintaining a variety of records and generating various management reports; assisting users in the organization with basic software, hardware and automation issues.
