This position is with the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health (OMH), Beckman Center for Mental Health Services, 1547 Parkway Greenwood, SC 29646.

This position will be based at the Greenwood Mental Health Clinic, with community-based service provision throughout Beckman's catchment area as member of the multidimensional family therapy (MDFT) Team.

Under general supervision, the mental health professional I will provide treatment services to the adult population and/or children, adolescents and their families who have serious mental illness. Multi-dimensional family therapy (MDFT) intensive services will be provided to children and adolescents in the community at risk of out of home placement, due to disruptive behaviors.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional I:

Provide mental health services in a culturally competent manner to include but not limited to assessments, crisis management, individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy to seriously mentally ill adults and children, adolescents and their families.

Formulate plan of care and maintain accurate medical records, ensuring documentation is in compliance with OMH and Beckman Center Quality Assurance Standards.

  • Maintain medical records documentation standards in accordance with all Beckman QA, OMH, and CARF policies and procedures.
  • Gather and submit outcome data in compliance with all Beckman, QA, OMH, and CARF policies and procedures.
  • Ensure caseload standards are met.
  • Render emergency/crisis services by providing telephonic and/or face -to-face contact to include screenings, assessments of persons for possible hospitalization.
  • Participate as an active member of the clinical team. Attend and engage in supervisory meetings, staffings, treatment team meetings, and administrative meetings. prepare to staff cases that need clinical attention when meeting with treatment team and supervisor.
  • Ensure each patient has a level of care (LOC) established and updated quarterly and patient receives treatment at recommended frequency.
  • Adhere to Corporate Compliance, Safety, Fire, CARF, HIPPA, and Cultural Competency policies and procedures.
  • Requirements

    • A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
    Additional Requirements:
    • Valid & current South Carolina driver's license
    • Must qualify for credentialing and privileging as a mental health professional and in accordance with Quality Assurance standards and with concurrence by OMH Office of Quality Management.
    • To be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care.

      This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience.

      Additional Information

      Post hire, employees must:
      • have the ability to operate a state vehicle
      • successfully complete managing agitation in the psychiatric setting (MAPS) certification
