Summary

This job is about working as a front-desk assistant in a military hospital, where you'll greet patients and visitors, schedule appointments, manage records, and handle basic administrative tasks over the phone or in person.

About the Position: The incumbent performs the full range of receptionist, recordkeeping, and miscellaneous clerical duties within the Winn Army Community Hospital, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical and administrative support functions such as record keeping, answering telephone calls, receiving patients, and/or scheduling patient appointments within an inpatient or outpatient clinic or medical treatment facility (MTF); providing basic medical information to patients, medical staff, and the general public; and utilizing automated office, healthcare, and/or scheduling systems to enter and retrieve data.

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Major Duties:

  • Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact, in person or telephonically.
  • Provide information regarding the practice, clinic, and hospital policies, procedures, and locations to patients, family members, and staff.
  • Schedule appropriate patient appointments. Coordinate or schedule patient appointments with other clinics or specialties.
  • Enter, manipulate and retrieve information and data from automated systems.
  • Complete request forms, manually or automated, for individual patient orders, blood work and other requests.
  • Maintain patients' records, both electronic and paper, according to regulation.
