Summary

This job involves working in a military clinic's call center, where you'll handle a high volume of phone calls, schedule patient appointments, maintain records, and use computer systems to support healthcare operations.

Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position is located with the Director of Branch Clinics, Army Health Clinic Managed Care Service, Army Health Clinic, Fort Detrick, MD.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes administrative support functions such as answering telephone calls and/or record keeping within an inpatient or outpatient clinic or medical treatment facility (MTF); scheduling patient appointments and/or coordinating patient referral appointments; utilizing various office automation systems; and communicating with staff and patients.

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Major Duties:

  • Answer high-volume calls while efficiently scheduling appointments.
  • Schedule appointments as outlined within established protocols and policies of the Call Center.
  • Perform a variety of other tasks in support of the Call Center, including but not limited to; confirming accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Maintain patient records, both electronic and hard copy, according to policies, procedures, and medical treatment facility regulations.
  • Utilize automated office or healthcare systems to schedule patient appointments; update, enter, or retrieve patient information; or complete clerical duties.
  • Record and relays messages and/or redirects calls, as necessary to appropriate staff.
  • Coordinate patient appointments with other clinics or specialties as needed.
