Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense (DoD) Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position is located at Womack Army Medical Center, Directorate of Clinical Support, Department of Radiology Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical and administrative support functions such as record keeping, answering telephone calls, receiving patients, and/or scheduling patient appointments within an inpatient or outpatient clinic or medical treatment facility (MTF); providing basic medical information to patients, medical staff, and the general public; and utilizing automated office, healthcare, and/or scheduling systems to enter and retrieve data.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Perform the full range of receptionist, recordkeeping, and miscellaneous clerical duties (scheduling appointments, greeting the patients, answering telephones, taking messages, etc.) in a clinic or Medical Treatment Facility.
  • Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact, in person or telephonically for the clinic.
  • Record and relays messages and/or redirect calls, as necessary to appropriate staff.
  • Utilize automated office or healthcare systems to schedule patient appointments; update, enter, or retrieve patient information; or complete clerical duties.
  • Maintain patient records, both electronic and hard copy, according to policies, procedures, and medical treatment facility regulations.
  • Provide information to patients, family members, staff, etc. on the practice, clinic, and hospital policies, procedures, and locations.
  • Perform clerical duties inherent to the reception, care, and out-processing of patients, families, caregivers, and guests.
  • Coordinate patient appointments with other clinics or specialties as needed.
