Requirements

As a Medical Records Supervisor, you will oversee the development and maintenance of inmate medical records, lead and participate in operational duties alongside a specialized clerical staff, and review work assignments to ensure timely and accurate completion.

You will establish unit plans and goals, as well as provide unit training and support.

This role requires strong organizational skills to maintain and monitor the integrated health record system for inmates while ensuring medical reports and entries comply with documentation practices, DOC policies, laws, and regulations.

In addition, you will prepare records for inmates paroling or being transferred, present medical records in court testimony, and provide periodic statistical reports on morbidity, mortality, and utilization of services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirement:

  • You must have possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.

Post Employment Requirement:

  • If you meet the Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification, you must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.


Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
